Reef Partners

Reef projects by The Alabama Gulf Coast Reef & Restoration Foundation are made possible through integral partnerships, hours of planning and generous donations to help provide an effective ecosystem for marine life in the Northern Gulf of Mexico. These people help make this foundation a success.

Coastal Alabama Business Chamber

The Alabama Gulf Coast Reef & Restoration Foundation began as an initiative of the Coastal Alabama Business Chamber. It is led by a volunteer board of directors consisting of businesspeople who are also divers, fishers, and others who recognize the importance of a healthy marine environment to our way of life. We’re proud to be working with local businessman David Walter of Walter Marine/The Reefmaker on our first project, the sinking of the LuLu. Many thanks to the Alabama Department of Conservation & Natural Resources, Marine Resources Division for its continued support and management of our artificial reef program.

Walter Marine - “Reefmaker” - deployed its first reef in 1986 and today is the largest artificial reef builder in America. Reefmaker has deployed over 25,000+ reefs and owns four (4) patents.
